Consumer Reports May 2011: Independent Drug Stores Are Best
Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 | Health Info
Belew Drugs and Consumer Reports agree: Your local independent drug store is always your best choice. Consumer Reports has found this to be true for the past 14 years. Once again Consumer Reports’ latest survey of 43,739 customers who rated drug stores for accuracy, speed and knowledge have found that independent drug stores are best, hands down. And once again they have found the big chains stores such as Walgreen’s, CVS and Walmart at the bottom of the ratings.
The survey found that independents made fewer errors, offered swifter service at the pharmacy counter, and were more likely to have medications ready for pick up when promised. Readers who shopped at independents were twice as likely as chain-drugstore shoppers to say that their druggist was easy to talk to and able to consult with them one-on-one.
The ranking placed Independent Drugstores at the TIP TOP with 32 chains ranked below. Walmart Pharmacy scored the lowest in each of the four categories, with Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS and Kroger all in the bottom eight.
