Hello again from the Compound Lab!
Today I’m focusing on a unique area within dermatology: nail infections.
Nail infections occur when bacteria or fungi enter the nail or nail bed and begin to grow. These infections can affect both fingernails and toenails and may lead to symptoms such as discoloration, thickening of the nail, itchiness, pain, or even spreading to surrounding skin.
Once a nail infection sets in, it can be difficult to treat. Clearing the infection may take several months or longer, and in some cases, the infection can return after treatment. Over time, this may lead to increased healthcare costs.
Fortunately, we offer compounded treatment options that are designed to be both effective and cost-conscious. These preparations are often made in larger volumes, which means they can last for extended periods and reduce the need for frequent refills.
If you are dealing with a stubborn nail infection and are looking for alternatives, we would be happy to work with your healthcare provider to find a treatment that fits your needs and your budget.
We are in the lab Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. You can also reach out anytime at brandon.ladage@belewdrugs.com.
Until next time,
Brandon
