Compounded Ear Drops

Updated: Jun 4

Think of compounded ear drops like a spare tire—used rarely, but essential when the need arises. These customized medications are typically requested to support patients experiencing ear discomfort, often related to inflammation or irritation in the ear canal.

During cold and flu season, we often see increased interest in ear-related compounds. With ongoing supply issues and evolving prescribing needs, compounded formulations may offer an alternative when commercially available products are delayed or unavailable.

Our lab can prepare a range of ear drop compounds in a timely manner, and we work closely with prescribers to meet specific patient needs. While each case is unique, most custom ear drop requests are ready in less than a business day.

For patients managing concurrent concerns like throat or nasal discomfort, other compounded options may be available as well—more on that in the coming weeks!

If you have questions about custom compounds, we’re available in the lab Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or you can reach me directly at brandon.ladage@belewdrugs.com.

Until next time,

Brandon
