Hello again from the Compound Lab! This week continues our lab staff spotlight.
Hi! I’m Lindsey, one of the compounding technicians. I am relatively new to compounding, but it has always interested me. I enjoy making things (crafts, baking, cooking, etc.)—plus I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering—so compounding is a great fit. I’d worked at Belew Drug for three years as a retail technician, but when a spot in the compound lab opened, I leapt at the opportunity.One of my favorite aspects of compounding is the variety we encounter each day. Not only the variety of compounds we make (creams, capsules, suspensions, pet treats, and so much more), but also the variety of problem solving required to help our patients. I also like that as a local, family-owned pharmacy we’re encouraged to focus on each of our patients as individuals, rather than just names and numbers. My unique contribution is doing weekly follow-up calls for our patients, to see how their compounds are working for them.Lastly, I love the team I get to work with and the close relationships we have built. We have a strong camaraderie, which reflects in the quality of our patient care.As always, we're available in the lab Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
